Located at the historic Crossing at the Dan, the Danville Science Center delights all ages with its hands-on exhibits and special programs that make science fun for everyone. Friendly staff and volunteers stand ready to encourage you to explore your world. During butterfly season (April-October), don't miss the beauty of the Butterfly Station and Garden - one of only a few butterfly greenhouses in Virginia.

The Danville Science Center is housed in the 1899 Southern Railway Passenger Station. It is registered with the Virginia Landmarks Commission and listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Investigate the flora and fauna of the Danville region and beyond in the Estelle H. Womack Natural History Collection. Step into the Fundamentals of Science Gallery and uncover fascinating facts about electricity, motion, perception and the human body. Visit Sproutsville featuring stations designed to enthrall the youngest scientists. During butterfly season, experience the intriguing beauty of the Butterfly Station and Garden. Visiting exhibitions on a wide range of topics guarantee that there are always new things to discover.

Whether launching bottle rockets or studying the stars, there’s laughter and science in the air. Gravitate your child to the Danville Science Center!
