Acorn Hall (68 Morris Avenue, Morristown), the headquarters of the Morris County Historical Society, is a Victorian Italianate mansion decorated largely with furnishings from the two families who lived there between 1853 and 1971. The house offers an unusual opportunity to experience authentic mid-Victorian splendor. It is open to the public on Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with decent-led tours. There is normally a special exhibit focusing on local history or the nineteenth century in the museum’s exhibit gallery; these change periodically. There is also a period-style garden and a charming gift shop.
