Lake County Discovery Museum
Discover the fun, well-rounded experience you expect from a big-city museum without the commute, at the award-winning Lake County Discovery Museum in Wauconda. This nationally accredited museum, set in the beautiful Lakewood Forest Preserve, features a variety of hands-on, interactive exhibits for the whole family.
Visitors can explore Lake County history, learn about picture postcards, view work by local artists and experience our changing special exhibitions. Various education programs and special events are offered at the Museum throughout the year, including Civil War Days (the largest Civil War reenactment in Illinois) and the Farm Heritage Festival. The Museum is also home to the Curt Teich Postcard Archives, the world's largest public collection of picture postcards.
