Apple River Fort
The Apple River Fort Foundation is composed of citizens who are dedicated to the successful presentation and programming of history at the Apple River Fort State Historic Site. The Foundation supports these efforts through fundraising activities, monetary contributions and annual membership dues.
The Apple River Fort Foundation was established in 1994 to locate the original site of the Apple River Fort and raise the funds necessary to rebuild the fort buildings and palisade.
In 1996, the Foundation also provided the funding for the Interpretive Center that relates the story of the Black Hawk War and the Apple River Fort to visitors.
Today, the Foundation supports living history programming for Special Events and the Frontier Life Summer Day Camp for children. The Apple River Fort Foundation continues its commitment to living history programming that provides the recreational visitor with a provocative learning experience.
Our vision for the future includes a steady growth in Living History Special Events, increased involvement with educational programming, and long-range plans to greatly expand the historic site’s physical plant. Procuring the funding for our future needs will require our historic community’s interest and involvement. So.... Become a part of history! Become an Apple River Fort Foundation Member!
