Weatherspoon Art Museum
Mission: The Weatherspoon Art Museum at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro acquires, preserves, exhibits, and interprets modern and contemporary art for the benefit of its multiple audiences including university, community, regional and national. Through these activities, the museum recognizes its paramount role of public service, and enriches the lives of diverse individuals by fostering an informed appreciation and understanding of the visual arts and their relationship to the world in which we live.
The Weatherspoon’s highly regarded permanent collection is one of the most foremost in the Southeast and includes important works by Willem de Kooning, Andy Warhol, Eva Hesse, Robert Rauschenberg, Lee Lozano, Robert Smithson, David Smith and contemporary artists Jessica Stockholder Kiki Smith, Gregory Crewdson, Alison Saar, Robert Colescott, Amy Cutler and many others.
The Weatherspoon presents a dynamic calendar of 18 to 20 exhibitions annually.
